Raising awareness for sick children with diseases like cancer, Marco’s David Stevenson grew out, and then donated, his hair to Angel Hair for Kids.
“Thousands of Canadian children lose their hair to cancer treatments, alopecia and other medical causes every year,” said Stevenson, Marco’s Canadian Sales Manager. “I just wanted to do something to help these kids.”
Part of the A Child’s Voice Foundation, Angel Hair For Kids is a special program that provides wigs and hair loss solutions to financially disadvantaged kids in Canada who have lost their hair due to a medical condition or treatment. Giving a wig and helping with hair loss helps build a child’s self-esteem and confidence during a difficult time in their young lives.
In addition to Angel Hair For Kids, The Foundation also offers one-time fulfillment of an immediate, essential and sometimes critical need for a sick or disabled child through Kids Life Line™. Together, these two services help families who are struggling financially to deal with their child’s illness, while providing hope to the kids themselves.
“It typically takes between 10 and 12 donated ponytails and $1,000 to sponsor one Angel Hair For Kids child,” Stevenson said, noting that the services are provided at no cost to the families. “If you can spare any amount, even a dollar or two, it will go to help kids in crisis.”
“I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I thank the people of this organization for their countless hours of donated time and efforts for children.”
